Edama, also known as dropsy, is the excess swelling of the hands, arms, feet, ankle, and legs. It is caused by fluid being trapped in your body’s tissues. Although it is most common in the areas previously mentioned, it can affect any part of your body.
There are many different reasons why a person might be experiencing edema. It could be a result of pregnancy, certain medications, or an underlying condition. Edema could be a precursor to heart failure, kidney disease, and cirrhosis of the liver.
